A Tribute to WW2 Veteran David Edwards
Saddened at the loss of my dear friend WW2 Veteran David Edwards but also relieved that there is no more pain.
A great friend once told me that people come in to your life for a Reason, a Season or for Life and in David it was all 3.
Although I only got to know him over the past few years having started my 39-45 Portraits Project, my life was richer for him being in it and as ‘for life’ I’ll never forget him; that gentle voice, that caring soul and that Edwards Wink.
Thinking so much of his delightful wife Diane
with whom David shared 72 years of life and of his devoted and proud sonChrisand all. My Extended Family.
I still have the text that Chris sent me after first meeting, photographing and spending time with his Mom and Dad … “Glyn, my Dad has told me to tell you that there’s family here for you in Abergavenny”

Proud to have met him. Proud to have photographed him. Proud to have had him as a friend.

Such a good day
When David and Diane first saw his portrait that I’d taken
David wrote this poem many years ago. On one visit I recorded him reading his own poem and then put together this video which was then played at the very first 39-45 Portraits Project Exhibition held at the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum, Woodstock at which David was a Guest of Honour.

Rest in Peace Sweet Man and Thank You x
