Honoured, Proud and Humbled that I have been officially announced as an Ambassador of The Veterans Charity...
Since starting the 39-45 Portraits Project I've got to know the folks at the Charity and of the incredible work they do giving 'Immediate Needs Support' to Veterans in need.
Earlier this year, through the incredible generoisty of folks all around the world I was able to raise £17,000 in just 10 days; 50% of which was donated to the Charity and the remaining 50% donated to a World War 2 Veteran (the first I'd photographed) that I so very much wanted to help with funds to purchase a mobility scooter, pay for travel to Europe for him to visit sites of fallen colleagues etc...

Then, as the project progressed in 2019, The Royal Mint licensed the use of a portrait taken of Veteran, Alan King for use to celebrate and advertise the release of a new coin commemorating 50 years of the 50p piece which coincided with the 75th Anniversary of D-Day (LINK). The licensing fee was donated to the Veterans Charity.
Going forward into 2020 I'm now on a mission to raise £50,000 by the end of June. Lots of activity planned to help with this including a Tandem Skydive I am signed up to do with the Red Devils in Salisbury on Wednesday 22nd July 2020.
The total funds raised will then be shared equally between the Veterans Charity and the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans meaning support / funding is being given to Veterans young, old, past and present.
Bring it on!
